The Taj Mahal is one of the most important tourist destinations in India. It is an UNESCO World heritage site. Situated in Agra, about 200kms from the nation’s capital Delhi, Taj Mahal is a monument built during the Moghul Rule and is believed to have been built in the 1640’s/1650’s (completed in 1653). The building is an architectural marvel and it has survived in the same color and shape and appearance for over 400 years.

The white marble tombs reflect its majestic grandeur and the monument itself was built by the Moghul King Shah Jahan as a mark of love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Besides the international tourists who make it a point to visit Taj Mahal, almost every top leader, from Presidents to Prime Ministers make it a point to have a glimpse of this monument, a symbol for love and romanticism. You can make a 1 Day Taj Mahal Tour from Delhi if you can get the right planning to see this marvelous monument. Taj remains closed on every Friday, therefore, it is advisable to check Taj Mahal Timings and Tickets price to make a plan.

1 Day Tour Plan

New Delhi is India’s capital city and tourists mainly stay in hotels across the city. The visit to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and other places of interest in Agra can be completed in a day and there are many ways of doing it. Rail, Road, and Air are the ways to complete this trip in one day.

By Train

There are trains from New Delhi which take less than 3 hours to the Agra railway station from where one could hire a cab and a guide to go around and take the returning train in the evening. The breakfast and dinner will be served in the train (particular Gatimaan Express, Shatabdi express, etc) and the lunch can be had in any of the top restaurants in Agra. This arrangement itself can be made by yourself without the help of any Taj Mahal Tour operator.

By Road

If you prefer to travel by road, then also there are plenty of options available to make the journey. Many tourist buses and general buses ply on the Delhi Agra route and they took 4 to 5 hours. There are special bus packages also available through the tour operator would offer in all-inclusive deals. This means the cost of booking the bus seat from your hotel to Agra and back, the breakfast on the way, lunch at Agra will all be part of the package. The entre fees at the various monuments and an English speaking guide will be provided to help you grasp the enchanting history of each of the monuments.

Visiting the Taj through car is also an option. Reaching through Yamuna expressway is a simple task and it generally takes 3 hours to reach the Agra city in early morning traffic. Taj Mahal and other tourist attractions of Agra like red fort, Sikandara, etc. can be covered in a day if plan properly.

By Air

Flights are also an option which should be considered to reach here, however, there are couple of limitations in using flights.

  • Very limited flight connectivity.
  • Taj Airport is around 15 KM far from the Taj and at least 1 hour is required to reach the venue from the airport.
  • Agra flights will almost take the same time or more time from Delhi to reach here including reach Delhi Airport, check in process, check out and journey to Taj from the airport.
